BUFFALO AREA AQUATICS KICKS OFF USA SWIMMING SHORT COURSE SEASON WITH BAAC PENTATHLON AT ALUMNI ARENA
BUFFALO, NY, October 7, 2019 - The Buffalo Area Aquatic Club (BAAC) hosted the first meet of the USA Swimming short course season with a Pentathlon format at the University at Buffalo’s Alumni Arena last weekend. The pentathlon format offered a great kick-off to the season with each swimmer competing in five events including the 50 Freestyle, 50 Backstroke, 50 Breaststroke, 50 Butterfly and the 100 Individual Medley for each age group.
Head Coach Mike Cutler introduced the Pentathlon meet format as a way for swimmers to accrue points towards the USA Swimming IM Ready (IMR) and IM Extreme (IMX) programs. These programs encourage swimmers of all ages to compete in all strokes and earn Power Points throughout the year to be ranked nationally, within the eastern zone, within the Niagara LSC and within the club.
