BAAC Swim Meets and Highlights

Enclosed are the official results, highlights and Improvement Reports for BAAC Swim Meets that we attend. The Improvement Reports are run two ways as we lead up to Champs - 1) Age as of the date of the meet and 2) Age as of the first Niagara Championship Meet to catch any swimmers who might age up during the season before Champs. Final Championship Meets - Short Course (March 21-30)

The 2023-2024 Short Course season wrapped up with three final meets in March – with BAAC swimmers logging numerous best times and top 10 finishes!  We had several swimmers representing BAAC at the Speedo Sectional Championship in Providence, Rhode Island March 21st-24th, the Baltimore Para Classic in Baltimore, Maryland March 23rd and the Eastern Zone Age Group Championship in Webester, New York March 27th-30th.    Highlights include:

Congrats to Sarah Reid, who participated recently in the Para Classic where she earned a 4th place finish in the 50 Fly and logged a personal best in the 50 Breast!

Niagara 14 and Under Championship (March 15-17)

Forty-four swimmers represented BAAC this past weekend at the Niagara 14 and Under Age Group Championship Meet in Webster.  Swimming 248 best times, with 14 individual and eight relay first place finishes, 125 top ten finishes, two high point winners, eight new zone cuts and three relay club records, as well as a second-place team finish, it was a great weekend of swimming!

Niagara Open Championship (March 8-10)

WOW! With more swimmers participating in the Open Championship meet than ever before in club history, it was a great weekend at the pool!We had thirty-one swimmers, with sixteen of them qualifying for finals, who helped lead BAAC to a 4th place team finish, scoring 527 MORE points this year, then the team did a year ago. With 101 best times achieved, 11 individual club records, six relay club records and numerous new qualifying times achieved – there is a lot to celebrate!

2024 Niagara Silver Championships: February 23-25, 2024

We had a GREAT start to championship season!  Fifty-one swimmers lead BAAC to a 2nd place team finish this past weekend in the Niagara Silver Championship meet at the Tonawanda Aquatic Center.   With 195 best times achieved and numerous top three finishes (including 24 first place finishes!), as well as 39 new gold championship times swam -- there was a lot to be excited about!  Congrats to all who participated – no doubt this was just the beginning of a great month of racing! GO BAAC!

2024 Michigan Open: February 9-11, 2024

We had 10 swimmers represent BAAC last weekend at the Michigan Open, held at Oakland University in Auburn Hills, Michigan.  With qualifying times for entry, this is a highly competitive meet, especially for the Open division (13 and overs) who swam in a prelim/finals format.  The level of competition was such that finals was raced in a long course, meters format to accommodate several athletes attempting to make Olympic Trials cut times.

BAAC participants included 12 & under swimmers – Ellie Gaskill, Binnat Huseynov and Quinn Hutton; and Open swimmers – Leah Gaskill, Lauren Golden, Maya Huntress, Emma Jones, Kylie Kwoka, Veronika Puzanovova and Hailey Stair.

We had 71 swimmers represent BAAC at the Star Winter Challenge January 26th-28th. Not only did we post 190 personal best times throughout the weekend, but also had numerous swimmers punch their ticket to the Silver and Gold Championship meets, as well as the Eastern Zone meet!  Highlights include:

2024 Niagara Jr/Sr Power Point: January 13-15, 2024

We had 41 swimmers take part in the Power Point meet.  This meet awarded high point winners based on a swimmers HY-TEK single-age power point score.  This is a USA swimming point system that allows for comparison of a swimmer’s quality of performance on a national level.  The power point scale ranges from 1 to 1100 points; the higher the points, the stronger you are in the event.
